The April meeting of the Book Club will be held on Thursday, April 3, at 6:00 PM in Henslee Hall. Please bring what meal you would like so that we can eat while we discuss.  The book we’re reading is James, by Percival Everett. This novel is a re-imagining of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of Jim, the enslaved man who befriends Huck. Set in mid-19th century Missouri, the story follows Jim as he overhears rumors of being sold to a New Orleans owner and flees to Jackson Island to plan his escape. In May we’ll be reading The Paris Bookseller, by Kerry Maher, and June will feature The Patron Saint of Liars, by Ann Patchett. Don’t miss this meeting – we’ll be selecting books for the next six months, so make your voice heard! If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Gray at klgray125@gmail.com or 423-379-0091.
