The March meeting of the Book Club will be on Thursday, March 6, at 6:00 PM in Henslee Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you have read (or finished) the book or not! Please bring what you’d like to eat and drink, and we’ll discuss the book. We are reading Hannah Coulter, by Wendell Berry, which is among a series of books the author has written about the small town of Port William, each told from a different resident’s viewpoint. In this installment (and they can all be read separately), the elderly Hannah recalls the love she has for the land and her community. She remembers each of her two husbands, and all places and communities threatened by twentieth-century technologies. At risk is the whole culture of family farming. However, hope redeemed when her wayward and once lost grandson, Virgil, returns to his rural home place to work the farm.
