Opportunities for fellowship abound at Good Sam. No matter your age or stage of life, we’ve got something for everyone. Annual events include our Feast of Lights Candlelight Dinner, Easter Brunch, and both the Pentecost and Fall picnics. We look forward to resuming these activities once restrictions on gathering are lifted.
Fellowship for Families and Children
Several times a year, the Faithful Families group engages in fun activities. Aimed at families with children in elementary school or younger, the group has enjoyed Family Movie Night, an annual Halloween party, a Winter Party, and a trek to a local ice-skating rink. Shortly before Christmas each year, children of all ages, including older youth, put on a wonderful Christmas Pageant. And once a month, the church hosts a free Parents’ Night Out, which is staffed by our nursery workers and gives parents a few hours of solitude while their children enjoy pizza and fellowship with friends. Good Sam also has a thriving Youth program, so check out the Youth page for more information.
Fellowship for Adults
Good Sam offers both a Book Club and a Bridge Group, both of which meet monthly. Our Supper Club offers a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to gather quarterly with a small group, and the Social Lights group, which is primarily aimed at those who live alone, engages in social events at least twice a month, including lunch after church, dinner and a movie, and potluck gatherings to watch the Vol plays, just to name a few. Our Women’s Group meets often for social events and outreach activities, and they enjoy a wonderful annual retreat as well.
Fellowship and Service
If you are looking for a way to provide service to others while enjoying fellowship, there are plenty of ways to serve. Our Kitchen Guild and Coffee Hour Team keep the kitchen in shape and the coffee warm. If you enjoy baking, we have a monthly Cookie Sunday following each church service, and during Advent, we offer an Advent Cookie Sale: parishioners bake and donate a variety of cookies and sweets, and for $10, you can take home four dozen treats. For those who are crafty, Good Sam also has a very active Prayer Shawl Ministry and an Advent Wreath Making team.
