The book we are reading is Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange. This novel traces the legacies of the Sand Creek Massacre in 1864 and the brutal Carlisle Industrial School for Indians through to 2018 and the shattering aftermath of the shooting of Orvil Redfeather, and the struggles his mother, a descendant of pupils of that school, goes through to hold her fragile and wounded family together.

Please bring what you’d like to eat and drink to the meeting, and as always, remember to take your trash with you when you leave.

Further selections include

  • July: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  • August: Tom Lake by Ann Padgett
  • September: Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
  • October: The Cafe on the Edge of the World by John Strel
